Answer
The Autoupdate process is simple. To AutoUpdate, sync your handheld device while your computer is connected to the internet. Windows Mobile devices use either ActiveSync software or the Windows Mobile Device Center, depending on your computer's desktop operating system. You can also schedule wireless AutoUpdates if you have a handheld device that has wireless access and a data plan to browse the internet. AutoUpdate is the Epocrates program that updates your subscription. AutoUpdate is configured for you automatically during the installation process. Once AutoUpdate is installed and configured on your desktop computer, you should be able to AutoUpdate by connecting your handheld device to your computer and syncing while your computer is connected to the internet. If this is not working for you, you may need to configure (set up) your AutoUpdate server.
Here's how to configure AutoUpdate for a Windows Mobile/Pocket PC device with a Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer using Microsoft ActiveSync.
Open ActiveSync, click Tools, then Options.
Place a check mark (if needed) by Epocrates AutoUpdate.
Click to select Epocrates AutoUpdate then click Settings.
Verify the following information and re-enter if needed:
- Sync Server URL: http://sync7.epocrates.com:80/sync
- Username:
- Password:
AutoUpdate should now access our sync servers and download the latest updates.
Here's how to configure AutoUpdate for a Windows Mobile/Pocket PC device with a Windows Vista computer using Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC).
Connect your Pocket PC to your computer and allow Windows Mobile Device Center to establish a connection.
Click on Change Content Sync Settings.
If Epocrates Auto Update is not listed, stop here. You will need to reinstall Epocrates to the desktop so that it will update when you sync your device.
If Epocrates Auto Update is listed, be sure there is a check mark in the box next to it.
Click on the Sync Settings link directly beneath Epocrates AutoUpdate.
Verify the following information and re-enter if needed:
- Sync Server URL: http://sync7.epocrates.com:80/sync
- Username:
- Password:
Click OK then OK again to close.
AutoUpdate should now access our sync servers and download the latest updates.
