  Answer
How do I ensure my AutoUpdate is working?

If AutoUpdate does not attempt to access our web site, verify that your Epocrates conduit is configured properly. This process will vary depending on your Windows version.

If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP...
  1. On your computer, click the HotSync Manager icon in the lower right hand corner of your system tray then click "Custom."
  2. Double click Epocrates, select "Synchronize the files" and place a check mark by "Set As Default". Click OK.
  3. Double click System, select "Handheld Overwrites Desktop" and place a check mark by "Set As Default".
  4. Click "OK" then "Done."
If you have Windows Vista...
  1. Locate the Hot Sync manager icon in the lower right corner of your computer screen and right click it. Select "Settings".
  2. In the box that appears, verify that your Palm username is highlighted in the area that says "Hot Sync Manager settings for______," where "______" is your Palm Username.
  3. Select "Applications."
  4. A list of applications that you synchronize with your Palm will appear.
  5. If Epocrates is not listed, stop here. You will need to reinstall Epocrates software.
  6. To turn the Epocrates conduit ON and sync to our server, double click the line that says Epocrates. Place a check mark next to "Synchronize the files", then check the box that says "Set as Default" and click OK to save the changes.
  7. To turn the Epocrates conduit OFF and not update your Epocrates when you Hot Sync your Palm, double click the line that says Epocrates. Place a check mark in the box that says "Do Nothing". To do this for the next sync only, do not place a check mark next to "Set as Default". To disable it long-term, place a check mark in the box that says "Do Nothing" and click OK. Please note that you will need to manually re-open the settings and remove the check mark in order to be able to update Epocrates again.

With all of this done, ensure you are online, then synchronize your device. During this process, Epocrates should attempt to update your application.

If it fails, please contact Epocrates support.

I do not receive DocAlerts anymore, am I updating?

If you are not receiving DocAlerts on your handheld, you may not be connecting to our AutoUpdate server when you sync your handheld. To check this, please open up Epocrates on your device and then go to the Disclaimer. If the date matches the date of your last sync, you are connecting with our server. If it does not match, please refer to "How do I ensure my AutoUpdate is working" for further instructions.

If you are not receiving DocAlerts in your email inbox after requesting them, the most likely explanation is that the alerts are being blocked by a spam filter. Please add Epocrates.com to your list of allowed senders in your email program or switch your account to an alternate email address if this is not possible.

I am not receiving my certificates for completed CME activities, am I updating?

If you are not receiving CME certificates of completion after syncing your handheld, you may also wish to log in to the My Account area of www.epocrates.com and then click on the CME link to view a list of your recently completed activities. If recently completed activites are not showing up, you may not be connecting to our AutoUpdate server when you sync. To check this, please open up Epocrates on your device and then go to the Disclaimer. If the date matches the date of your last sync, you are connecting with our server. If it does not match, please refer to "How do I ensure my AutoUpdate is working" for further instructions.

If you are seeing the CMEs listed on our site but you are not receiving the certificates of completion in your email inbox after requesting them, the most likely explanation is that they are being blocked by a spam filter. Please add Epocrates.com to your list of allowed senders in your email program or switch your account to an alternate email address if this is not possible.
