What is the free trial?
The Epocrates Essentials trial is a free 60-day trial available to all BlackBerry, Palm, and Windows Mobile Professional users who have not yet tried the Epocrates Essentials all-in-one clinical reference. (It is a 30-day trial for iPhone/iPod touch users.) At this time, the Essentials trial is not available for Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone).
Taking the trial is easy – no credit card, no download, and no obligations!
We allow one trial per user.
Epocrates Essentials includes:
- Epocrates Rx Pro drug reference – with Epocrates ID infectious disease treatment guide, integrated weight-based dosing calculator, IV compatibility checker
- Epocrates SxDx disease reference with integrated symptom assessment tool (The Sx symptom assessment tool is not available for iPhone/iPod touch or BlackBerry.)
- Epocrates Lab diagnostic and laboratory test reference
- The Coder and Medical Dictionary are not part of this trial.

How do I get the free trial?
- iPhone/iPod touch: To access the trial, change your search settings to "All," then choose any item listed as "Lab" or "Dx," and select the trial request link on-screen.
- BlackBerry:
- Open Epocrates. You should be at the "All" search screen.
- Press the menu button and select Dx.
- Select "Try it now for free!"
- Allow the update process to complete.
- Palm and Windows Mobile Pocket PC: To access the trial, please tap on one of our premium tabs, such as Dx or Lab, and tap on the trial request link on-screen.
After you have requested the trial, you must AutoUpdate by synchronizing your handheld device while connected to the Internet. During this update, our servers will send the Epocrates Essentials software to your device.

What if I already subscribe to premium products?
If you already have Epocrates Rx Pro, Epocrates SxDx, or Epocrates Lab, they will continue to run throughout the duration of our free Epocrates Essentials trial. During the trial, you will have access to the full Epocrates Essentials product. When the trial ends, if you do not subscribe to Epocrates Essentials, the software will revert back to your original product subscription(s) with your original subscription date(s).

What happens after the trial?
You will receive an email notifying you that the trial is about to end, and another email confirming the end of the trial. If you do not subscribe to Epocrates Essentials during or at the end of the trial, your application will return to your original product(s) with your original subscription date(s).
IMPORTANT: Epocrates Essentials software application is a composite software offering and can increase the size of the Epocrates application on your device by as much as 50%. Please ensure you have adequate space on your device before you attempt to start the trial. If you do not have enough memory, you could experience an error.
Without enough memory, our update servers will not be able to send the additional content to your device. Another problem you may be experiencing is that you are not successfully completing an AutoUpdate. For instructions on how to AutoUpdate, please see Frequently Asked Question .
NOTE:
- The free trial feature is not available for Palm devices that have OS 4 and older, or Windows Mobile devices with Pocket PC 2002 or older.
- The free trial is for Essentials and not for Essentials Deluxe. The Coder and Medical Dictionary are not part of this trial.
