  How do I configure my ZoneLabs firewall to work with AutoUpdate?
How can I change my firewall settings to enable me to download Epocrates software?

  Click the appropriate link for instructions regarding how to configure your ZoneLabs firewall to work with Epocrates AutoUpdate.




ZoneAlarm Free and Pocket PC
  1. Running the installer for the first time should not result in any prompts from ZoneAlarm until after the Epocrates InstallShield wizard completes. At this point, ActiveSync begins its install process when the you will be asked for your Epocrates username and password. After entering the user information, you should see the following prompt.



    Click "Allow". If "Deny" is selected, you will get an error when the username and password are ented.

  2. Once ActiveSync tries to run Epocrates AutoUpdate, you should see the following prompt.



    Click "Allow". If "Deny" is selected, you will get the following error.



  3. To correct the above error, double click on the ZoneAlarm icon and click on Program Control. Locate "desktopsync.exe" and change its permissions to "Allow" (green check mark) for all 4 options.







ZoneAlarm Free and Palm
  1. If the installer is being run for the first time, ZoneAlarm will display the following prompt after entering the Epocrates username and password.



    Click "Allow". If "Deny" is inadvertently selected, the following error will be displayed.



    At this point, it is best to cancel the install process.

  2. To correct the above error, double click on the ZoneAlarm icon and click on Program Control. Locate "UserLogin MFC App..." and change its permissions to "Allow" (green check mark) for all 4 options.



    The Epocrates installer can be now be run again.

  3. When the HotSync is run for the first time after the Epocrates install completes, ZoneAlarm will display the following prompt.



    Click "Allow". If "Deny" is inadvertently selected, you will encoutner the following error.



  4. To correct the 5453 error, double click on the ZoneAlarm icon and then on Program Control. Locate "HotSync® Manager..." and change its permissions to "Allow" (green check mark) for all 4 options.






ZoneAlarm Pro and Pocket PC

ZoneAlarm Security Suite and Palm

There are two ways to make ZoneAlarm Security Suite and AutoUpdate work together.

First, open My Computer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Zone Labs. In the Zone Labs folder, double click on "imf_editor".



Set it to "Filter only the whitelisted apps."



If that does not work, or if imf_editor is not present, uninstall ZoneAlarm Security Suite and reinstall Epocrates. After the HotSync/AutoUpdate process completes, reinstall ZoneAlarm Security Suite. There should be no further conflicts.
