  Invalid Username and/or Password
  Question
How do I correct the Invalid username and/or password error?
  Answer
During installation, we ask you to supply your Epocrates username and password. The UserLogin MFC application (for Palm Devices) or desktopsync and installhelper (Windows Mobile/Pocket PC devices) then try to verify your information with the AutoUpdate server.

There are different situations that can cause the invalid username/password error.
  • The first cause of this error is that when the username and password are entered, the computer is not online. If the computer is not online, the Epocrates software cannot validate the username and password. Be sure that your computer is connected to the Internet before you try to install Epocrates.
  • The second cause is that the wrong username and/or password have been entered. Epocrates usernames and passwords are case sensitive. They must be entered in the exactly the way they were during the registration process. To check your AutoUpdate settings, please see FAQ 100.
  • The third possible cause is that the Epocrates sync server URL is incorrect. To verify the sync server URL, please see FAQ 100.
  • The fourth possible cause for this situation is security on your computer or in your network. Firewalls, intrusion defense systems (IDS), content filters, spyware/adware blockers, and similar programs can all interfere with the username/password verification process. Please see FAQ 850 for more information regarding security applications and Epocrates.
  • If you are attempting AutoUpdate wirelessly from the handheld device itself and are using a Wi-Fi network, there is the possibility of encryption. If cellular is an option, please try that network type.
  • If you are attempting AutoUpdate wirelessly from the handheld device itself, it's possible however unlikely that there are security applications installed on the handheld. If so, they should be disabled or configured to not interfere with AutoUpdate.
  • Poor signal strength and/or battery power could also cause this error. Be sure that you have good to excellent signal strength before attempting a wireless AutoUpdate.
