Please note if you have a compatible handheld device that can access the Internet with an unlimited data plan, you can now install and update Epocrates wirelessly. See the instructions below for installation steps specific to your device and computer operating system.
Please be advised that your mobile device needs to be able to synchronize to your computer without errors before you can install Epocrates. If you are syncing to a new or different computer you will want to set up your handheld synchronization software to that computer and sync a few times prior to installing Epocrates. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below:
BlackBerry
- Open the web browser on your BlackBerry.
- Navigate to the following web address
http://get.epocrates.com
Note that the prefix "www." is NOT part of this web address.
- Select the "Install Now" button on-screen.
- Follow the instructions that are displayed on the BlackBerry.
If you see a box that says "Set Application Permissions", please place a check mark in this box. You will then be taken to a screen that asks you for the permissions settings on the phone. Please scroll down and ensure that all of the settings are set to Allow so that your installation can continue.
If you are asked to reboot at any time, please be sure to reboot.
BlackBerry Storm users and newer BlackBerry models may need to check their Downloads folder in order to locate Epocrates after the file download and/or reboot.
- At the AutoUpdate screen, enter your Epocrates username and password, and select the "Continue Installation" button.
Please note: At this time, both the install and all updates are done over-the-air (wirelessly). We do not have plans to release a version that installs or updates through a computer. Therefore, an unlimited data plan is strongly recommended. If you do not have a data plan, your carrier will charge you for the downloads.

iPhone and iPod touch
For iPod Touch users, please be sure that your Touch is connected to an open WiFi signal and not physically connected to the computer during the installation. To check your WiFi settings, tap on Settings and then Network. To disconnect from the computer, unplug the white sync cable that came with your iPod touch.
- Go to your iPhone or iPod touch home screen and access the App Store.
- In the search box enter the word Epocrates.
- Tap the Get App button.
Please note that from the App Store, you will download the Epocrates free application. After entering your Epocrates username and password, your actual subscription will be downloaded and installed into your device.
- Tap on Free, then tap the Install button.
- Enter iTunes user ID and password (these are different from your Epocrates username and password).
- Return to your device's home screen and tap on the Epocrates icon.
- Select the "Sign In" button below the "Existing Users" heading.
- Enter the email address associated with your Epocrates user account (or your Epocrates username) and your Epocrates password. Remember that the Epocrates password is CASE SENSITIVE.
- Allow the update to complete.

Palm Pre
The Palm Pre is a wireless device but to obtain the Epocrates installation file you will first need to connect to a desktop computer. Please click on the computer operating system below that applies to you for detailed instructions and system requirements:

- Return to our website (www.epocrates.com).
- Click the "My Account" link in the top right corner of the page.
- Log in (if need be).
- Click the "Download" link to the right of software you would like to install. (If you are a free user, tap on the Download button in the center of the page.)
- Select the "Cable Install" option.

- Return to our website (www.epocrates.com).
- Click the "My Account" link in the top right corner of the page.
- Log in (if need be).

- Select the "Cable Install" option.

Windows Mobile Professional (Pocket PC: Windows Mobile devices with touch-screens, including Treo 700w, Treo 750, Treo 800, Treo Pro)
To install Epocrates to your Pocket PC/Windows Mobile device, you must have a Standard Partnership established with Active Sync (or Windows Mobile Device Center if you have Windows Vista). If you are connected as a Guest, you will not be able to install the software. Ensure that your device is connected to the computer and can sync normally, then follow the steps below:
- Return to our website (www.epocrates.com).
- Click the "My Account" link in the top right corner of the page.
- Log in (if need be).
- Click the "Download" link to the right of software you would like to install. (If you are a free user, tap on the Download button in the center of the page.)
- Select the "Cable Install" option.

Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone: Windows Mobile phones without touch-screens)
- Open Internet Explorer on your Windows Mobile Smartphone.
- Select the Menu in the lower right, then select "Address bar."
- Enter the following web address.
http://get.epocrates.com

- Select the "Install Now" button on-screen.
- Follow the instructions that are displayed on the Windows Mobile Smartphone.
- When prompted, enter your Epocrates username and password, then select the "Update Now" button displayed on-screen. This will complete the install process.
