  Epocrates Handheld System Requirements

  This FAQ answers the following questions.
  • Which handheld devices are supported by Epocrates?
  • What are the minimum requirements for using Epocrates on my handheld?
  Answer
  Epocrates Software is compatible with a number of devices that run different operating systems. Here are some things to remember if you are looking to purchase a new device or upgrade your current one. Please visit our support portal for the system requirements for our software. Please see this FAQ for a chart showing which Epocrates products are availble for which handheld platforms.

Here are some other things to consider when getting your new device:

iPhone:

The products available to install on iPhone & iPod Touch are: Epocrates Essentials, Epocrates Rx Pro and Epocrates Rx Free. Please see this FAQ for more info on the iPhone.

Blackberry:

At this time Epocrates Essentials, Epocrates Rx Pro, and Epocrates Rx Free are available for most Blackberry devices, including the BlackBerry Storm and Thunder. Please see Faq 994 for more info on the Blackberry.

Palm Pre:

Epocrates Essentials, Rx Pro, and Rx Free are available for Palm Pre.
   * Epocrates Essentials Deluxe will not be available for the Palm Pre.

Palm:

We are compatible with most modern Palm handheld devices. This includes Palm's Treo series of phones and their new Centro.

Epocrates requires Palm OS 5 and higher. Please CLICK HERE for more details.

Windows Mobile:

Windows Mobile devices with a touch-screen are considered Pocket PCs and will run Rx Free, Rx Pro, Essentials, Coder, Dictionary, and Essentials Deluxe. Such devices must have Windows Mobile 2003 or higher. Please CLICK HERE for more details.

Windows Mobile devices without a touch-screen are considered Smartphones and will only run Rx Free. Please see FAQ 917 for details.

All Other Handheld Device types, including devices with Android, Symbian, Debian Linux, Palm Virtual Machine, and an operating system similar to the iPhone:

At this time, Epocrates does not have a native application for devices such as the T-Mobile/Google G1, LG Dare, LG Lotus, LG Voyager, LG Vu, LG, Vu CU, Samsung Glide, Samsung Instinct, Nokia Multimedia Phone, Nokia Internet Tablet, among others. If your phone supports web browsing, you should be able to access Epocrates Online:
