  Epocrates and Proxy Servers

  Our network uses a Proxy Server. How do I tell AutoUpdate to use the Proxy Server?
  Answer
  There are different ways to configure Epocrates to work with a proxy server, depending on your computer and handlheld device.









Palm handheld and Windows

  1. On your Desktop Computer, click Start in the lower left corner of the screen, Programs, Epocrates, Epocrates.
  2. Click Configure Proxy.
  3. Click the "Expert" button.
  4. Place a check mark in "Use HTTP Proxy Server".
  5. Enter your proxy server name (or IP address) and port.
    NOTE: If you do not know your server name or port, please contact your Internet provider or Help Desk (if installed at work) for assistance.
  6. click OK.
  7. Click "Test Connection" to verify AutoUpdate can access our website.









Palm handheld and Macintosh

  1. On your Mac, open Mac HD \ Applications \ Epocrates AutoUpdate\ AutoUpdate Configuration.
  2. Highlight Epocrates AutoUpdate.
  3. Click Proxy.
  4. Enter your proxy server name (or IP address) and port.
    NOTE: If you do not know your server name or port, please contact your Internet provider or Help Desk (if installed at work) for assistance.
  5. Click OK and Quit.
  6. Hotsync.









Windows Mobile and ActiveSync

The installation process for Epocrates Rx Pro automatically checks for proxy server settings. If you are asked to enter a server name or port, please contact your IT Department for the appropriate settings and enter those during the installation process.

If you get an error regarding Proxy servers, first, please verify that you are connected to the Internet by trying to visit another website, and once you have confirmed your Internet connection, reconnect your Windows Mobile Pocket PC with your computer to synchronize again.

If you still fail to update, you may need to enter Proxy Server Authentication information.

You can also manually configure your proxy server by the following:
  1. On your Desktop computer, open Microsoft Active Sync.
  2. Enter Authenticated Proxy Server information.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Reconnect your device with your computer and let ActiveSync perform the update process.









Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista)

The installation process for Epocrates Rx Pro automatically checks for proxy server settings. If you are asked to enter a server name or port, please contact your IT Department for the appropriate settings and enter those during the installation process.

If you get an error regarding Proxy servers, first, please verify that you are connected to the Internet by trying to visit another website, and once you have confirmed your Internet connection, reconnect your Windows Mobile Pocket PC with the computer to synchronize again.

  2. Select "Mobile Device Settings."
  3. Select "Change content sync settings."
  4. Select Epocrates AutoUpdate Sync Settings.
