If you have a BlackBerry, Palm, or a Windows Mobile/Pocket PC handheld and a subscription to Epocrates Rx Pro, Essentials, or Essentials Deluxe, you can now store some Epocrates databases on your memory card. This could free up about 4.5 MB of main memory for a BlackBerry, 16 MB for a Palm, and about 15 MB for a Pocket PC.
It should be noted that only certain Epocrates databases can be stored on memory cards, and this must be done from within Epocrates itself on the handheld. All MedTools, formularies, and calculators must reside in the handheld's main memory.
Manually transferring any part of Epocrates to a memory card in any way other than what is described below could cause problems for Epocrates, necessitating a complete reinstallation of the application.
BlackBerry Handhelds
If Epocrates detects a card present in the BlackBerry, it will automatically use the card. There is not a memory management tool the user needs to do this. The amount of Epocrates that will be put on the card is as follows.
- up to 13 MB of Epocrates Essentials
- up to 5 MB of Epocrates Rx Pro and Rx Free

Support Considerations
There are some support consideration with Epocrates and memory cards.
- Epocrates free add-on MedTools cannot be stored on memory cards.
- Palm OS 5.0 and higher is required for memory card support.
- Users with Rx version 7.50 will not have memory card support. This includes Macintosh users who had to use the special installer to correct the Conduit Manager error.
- Sony Memory Sticks or SD cards in Sony Clie's are not supported.
- Memory cards in Windows Mobile Smartphones are not supported.
- If the card is write-protected (or locked), an insufficient available memory error will be displayed. Please be sure that the card is unlocked.
- Compact Flash memory cards are unsupported.
