The main cause of the "device not supported" message while trying to install Epocrates wirelessly is the method by which http://get.epocrates.com was accessed from the handheld's browser. If you use the browser's search function, you will get this error message. Instead, the web address must be accessed from the browser's location or address bar.
This is done differently depending on the handheld device being used.
BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, World, Bold
BlackBerry Storm and Thunder
Palm
Windows Mobile Pocket PC
Windows Mobile Smartphone
BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, World, Bold
- Open the web browser on the BlackBerry.
- Press the Menu key and select "Go To..."
- Delete the "www" and enter the following web address.
http://get.epocrates.com
Please note that the prefix "www." is NOT part of this web address.
- Select the "Install Now" button and follow the on-screen prompts.
Another possible cause for this error on a BlackBerry would be if the web browser's emulation was set to Firefox or Internet Explorer. Be sure that the browser's Emulation Mode is set to BlackBerry.
- Open the web browser on the BlackBerry.
- Press the Menu key and select "Options."
- Select "Browser Configuration."
- Position your cursor at "Emulation Mode" and press the Menu key.
- Select "BlackBerry" and press the trackball or scroll wheel.
- Press the Menu key, select "Save Options" and press the trackball or scroll wheel.
If you have a BlackBerry 8350i, be sure that the default browser is set to Internet Browser

- Set the default to "Internet Browser" instead of HotSpot.
Additionally, you will receive this error if you type get.epocrates.com into the address bar of the Opera browser. At this time, wireless installation of Epocrates is not supported on the Opera browser. Please switch to a different browser on your device in order to complete the installation process.
BlackBerry Storm and Thunder
- Open the web browser on your BlackBerry.
- Enter the following web address in the address bar (above the search bar) in your BlackBerry's browser.
http://get.epocrates.com
Note that the prefix "www." is NOT part of this web address.
- Select the "Install Now" button on-screen.
- At the AutoUpdate screen, enter your Epocrates username and password, and select the "Continue Installation" button.

- Follow the on-screen prompts.
- If you still get the "device not support" message, tap on the menu key and select "Go to Web Page" from the "Go" menu.
- Enter the web address listed above, and tap the "OK" button.
Windows Mobile Pocket PC
- Open Internet Explorer on the handheld device.
- Enter the following web address in the bar at the top of the screen.
http://get.epocrates.com
Please note that the prefix "www." is NOT part of this web address.
- Tap the green arrow button to the right of the address bar.
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
- If you get the "device not supported" message again, tap on "Menu" in the lower right, select "Tools" and then "Options."
- Tap on the "Memory" tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap "Clear History" and "Delete Files."
- Close Internet Explorer and try again.
Additionally, you will receive this error if you type get.epocrates.com into the address bar of the Opera browser. At this time, wireless installation of Epocrates is not supported on the Opera browser. Please switch to a Internet Explorer on your device in order to complete the installation process.
Windows Mobile Smartphone
- Open Internet Explorer on your Windows Mobile Smartphone.
- Select the Menu in the lower right, then select "Address bar."
- Enter the following web address.

Note that the prefix "www." is NOT part of this web address.
- Select the "Install Now" button on-screen.
- Follow the instructions that are displayed on the Smartphone.
Additionally, you will receive this error if you type get.epocrates.com into the address bar of the Opera browser. At this time, wireless installation of Epocrates is not supported on the Opera browser. Please switch to a Internet Explorer on your device in order to complete the installation process.
