Searching within Epocrates for Apple Mobile Devices

Question

How do I search within Epocrates on my iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad device?

Answer

This article refers to Epocrates version 4 for iOS. If you have not upgraded to this version yet, please view this article for upgrade information.

Use one quick search to access any drug, disease, prescribing, and dosing information you may need at the point-of-care. The search box located at the top of your Epocrates homepage will search your entire Epocrates application, which may include drugs, diseases, infectious diseases, lab tests, resources centers, and tables. To search:
  1. Open Epocrates
  2. Tap the search box and enter the term you wish to look up.
  3. Tap "done." Or, tap on the relevant entry from the list of results as it appears.

If you would like to search Rx drugs without needing to know the classification:
  1. Simply tap the Rx drugs icon.
  2. Tap the search field along the top. It will say 'search drugs' in a faint font.
  3. Type the desired drug name in the search. This will start to bring up a list of all drugs starting with your corresponding letters. Select correct drug name.
  4. You are now within the drug monograph.

If the search bar is accessible but the search process does not yield any results, please try the following steps.
A. Reboot the device and try searching again. To reboot an iPhone/iPod touch/iPad:
  1. Hold down the Power Button and the Home Button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
  2. You will be prompted to turn off the device. Disregard this prompt and continue to hold both buttons down until the Apple logo appears.
  3. Once the device reboots, please try to access Epocrates again.
B. Update Epocrates and try searching again. Here's the Epocrates update process:
  1. Launch Epocrates on your iPhone/iPod touch/iPad.
  2. From your Epocrates homepage, swipe the screen to the left screen and tap the "Updates" icon.
  3. Tap on "Check For Updates/Update Now."

If you encounter trouble accessing the search bar, be sure that you have dismissed any dialog boxes on screen by touching their black X icons.
