Q: Why is Epocrates discontinuing support for the Palm and Windows Mobile platforms?
A: At Epocrates, we strive to continually improve our product across all of our platforms, and to take advantage of the latest developments in mobile technology. Over the years, this has become more and more difficult, as the gap in technical capabilities between older and newer devices has widened. To continue delivering the best set of features to medical professionals, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue support for Palm OS and Windows Mobile effective June 1, 2013.
Q: Is it possible to renew the subscription for my Windows or Palm mobile device?
A: Our website no longer offers the ability to purchase or renew for subscriptions syncing to these platforms.
Q: What is the timeline for the transition?
A: Until June 1, 2013: Your Epocrates software will continue to function normally. You will continue receiving content updates from our servers. Our support team will also be available to assist you with any issues related to your devices or Epocrates software.
As of June 1, 2013, Epocrates clinical information will cease to update for Windows and Palm mobile devices. Epocrates content could remain in this "static" state 6 months from your last scheduled or manual update, as long as one completes an update just prior to June 1, 2013. Failure to Update Epocrates just before June 1, 2013 will result in a loss of access sooner than the 6 month threshold of December 1, 2013.
Q: What are my options?
A: Epocrates is available on the Apple iOS, Android, and Amazon Kindle Fire platforms. We hope that you will continue to use Epocrates on these platforms.
Q: Can I transfer my paid subscription to another platform?
A: If you have purchased one of our premium products on Palm or Windows, you may transfer your subscription license to the Apple iOS or Android platform. After completing the transfer and synching, you will see the premium products on your device. To transfer your license, please log into www.epocrates.com or contact our support group at the phone number and email below.
